CONCEPT "City Patchwork" is a project that uses the power of art to mend small unnoticed frays within the urban landscape. Participants will collaboratively create small "dwellings" in various areas of the venue using patchwork techniques with colorful recycled materials. While experiencing the joy of adding a splash of color to the dynamic urban scenery of Ariake and making small discoveries throughout the city, we will also introduce the artworks in each area.​

CONCEPT The entire city functions like a grand experimental apparatus, and this artwork allows you to sense the chain reactions while exploring the whole region. It's an experiential AR art piece that takes you through four locations: Flower Plaza, Stone and Light Square, Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge, and Dream Plaza. Launch the XR app "STYLY" and when you view the waterfront urban center's landscape through your smartphone, you'll see a large red ball dynamically racing through the town. Through the presence of the ball, you might discover new charms of the city or contemplate the organic relationship between "people" and the "world." Why not experience it? You can also enjoy an immersive sound experience along with the visuals.

Flower Plaza

When you view the scene through your smartphone, you'll see a "flower" sculpture in the foreground and the Yurikamome Line tracks in the distance. This creates a vibrant world expanding before you. Twisting the enormous faucet hovering in the sky causes the ball to shoot out from its tip. Turning handles and screws can further enhance the ball's movement in intriguing ways. As you gaze at the real landscape and the landscape through your smartphone, experience the depth of the Ariake district.

Stone and Light Square

One of the emblematic establishments of this location is Tokyo Big Sight. With its dynamic presence in the background, a massive red ball approaches with a lively bounce. Stand at the heart of the Stone and Light Square and take in a 360° view, focusing on the approaching ball's movements.

Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge

From the center of the Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge, gazing out at the sea, your attention is drawn to the flow of cars on the Shuto Expressway and the Bayshore Route. When you overlay the AR layer by holding up your smartphone, you'll find the roads once filled with cars are now covered in red balls! Not only the roads but also the sea is dotted with numerous balls, and their movements might captivate your attention endlessly. There's even a surprise waiting at the smokestack of the cleaning facility, so be sure to tap on it.

Dream Plaza

Near Tokyo Teleport Station, by the entrance of Dream Plaza, a large hole opens up in the ground, revealing an extraordinary artwork where a gigantic ball emerges from within. Where will this newly born ball eventually lead?
